Steering Column: Installation

2013 Mini Cooper Countryman, Standard TransSECTION Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Fit spacer plate. See Figure .
  2. Fit spacer tube (1). Tighten down new shear screw until screw head shears off. See Figure .
  3. Ensure clamping screw is located in retaining groove of steering spindle. See Figure . Replace self-locking nut and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Resecure lines and cables with cable ties.
  5. When installing collar (1), recess (3) of collar ring (1) must point to snap ring (2). See Figure .
  6. After installation, carry out steering angle offset for DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). See BMW Diagnosis Program.
  7. Check for freedom of movement over entire adjustment range of steering column to adjoining components and wires.
