The engine has a vacuum pump to generate the necessary partial vacuum for the brake servo and additional load (for example, wastegate valve or model-specific exhaust flap. So that an adequate partial vacuum is available at any time, a vacuum reservoir is used.
An electric vacuum pump is installed for the ActiveHybrid. The electric vacuum pump is provided to complement the mechanical vacuum pump. The electric vacuum pump is required as a matter of priority for generating vacuum for brake power assistance. Particularly during electric driving when the combustion engine is switched off.
