The engine S63 TOP is used for the first time in the F10M. The engine S63 TOP is a new innovation based on the engine S63.

The SAP designation is S63B44T0.

  • The S thereby represents the engine development of M GmbH.
  • The number 63 describes the engine type V8.
  • The B references the petrol engine and petrol fuel.
  • The number 44 provides information about the displacement of 4395 cm3 .
  • T0 marks the technical update compared to the base engine.

The development goal was to increase the dynamic for the use in the new M5 and M6 simultaneously drop the fuel consumption. This was achieved through consequent dethrottling and the application of the Turbo-Valvetronic direct injection (TVDI) technology. These are already known in the engines N20 and N55 in use.

The newly developed engine S63 TOP is characterized by the following features:

  • V8 Petrol engine with twin turbo twin scroll Valvetronic direct injection (TVDI) and 412 kW (560 PS)
  • Torque of 680 Nm from 1500 rpm
  • 93.7 kW power output per liter
