Removal and Installation

WARNING: Always lift a plastic-cased battery with a battery carrier or with hands on opposite corners. Excessive pressure on the battery end walls may cause acid to flow through the vent caps, resulting in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or battery.

1. Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery Disconnect Battery Disconnect.

2. Remove the battery hold-down clamp and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).

3. NOTICE: Be sure the battery cover is re-installed to avoid premature battery failure.

Remove the battery, and if equipped, remove the battery cover.

4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
