Keyless Entry Module: Service and Repair
1998 Mercury Sable V6-3.0L DOHC VIN SSECTION Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from anti-theft system control and bracket assembly.
2. Remove two retaining nuts from anti-theft system control and bracket assembly and remove anti-theft system control and bracket assembly from instrument panel.
3. Release each individual locking tab from module and simultaneously back off bracket 6.35 mm (1/4 inch).
4. Remove module from bracket when tabs are released.
INSTALLATION
1. Align three fingers on bracket with tabs on replacement module.
2. Slide module into bracket, verify all tabs are locked in position.
3. Connect anti-theft system control and bracket assembly to wiring harness connector.
4. Position anti-rotation tab on anti-theft system control and bracket assembly into slot in instrument panel.
5. Install anti-theft system control and bracket assembly to instrument panel. Tighten retaining nuts to 6-8 N.m (53-70 Lb-In).
6. Perform Programming.
