EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

OUTPUT VOLTAGE

EGR Position Sensor Testing:






1. Disconnect sensor connector.
2. Connect adapter (Mazda SST #49 G018 901 or equivalent) between sensor and vehicle wiring harness.
3. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve and connect hand vacuum pump.
4. Turn ignition switch "ON" and check terminal voltages as described on the image chart.

Output Voltage Testing:






5. If not correct at terminals "A" and "B," check wiring harness and ECU terminals 2A and 2C.
6. If not correct at terminal "C," check sensor resistance, wiring harness and ECU terminal 2F.
7. If not as specified, replace sensor.

RESISTANCE

Resistance Testing:






1. Disconnect sensor connector.
2. Check resistance as described on image chart.
3. If not as specified, replace sensor.
