A/T Gear Position Indicator Panel Assembly Replacement

2002 Honda Civic SiSECTION A/T Gear Position Indicator Panel Assembly Replacement

  1. Remove the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER REMOVAL  ).
  2. Pry off the D3 switch cover (A).

  3. Remove the D3 switch (A) by expanding its locks (B). Remove the screws (C), shift lever button (D), spring (E), shift lever knob (F), and shift lever knob cover (G).

  4. Remove the shift lever rod (A), and remove the A/T gear position indicator panel light socket (B).

  5. Remove the A/T gear position indicator panel assembly (C).
  6. Disassemble the old A/T gear position indicator panel assembly, and remove the shift lock release (A), release spring (B), and shift lock release link (C).

  7. Apply silicone grease to the shift lock release, release spring, and shift lock release link.
  8. Install the shift lock release, release spring, and shift lock release link in the new A/T gear position indicator panel (D) and A/T gear position indicator panel bracket (E), and assemble the A/T gear position indicator panel assembly.
  9. Install the A/T gear position indicator panel assembly.
  10. Install the shift lever rod (A) by pointing the bevel (B) of the shift lever rod towards the threaded holes (C), and push it into the bottom. Apply silicone grease to the top of the rod.

  11. Install the shift lever knob cover (D).
  12. Apply silicone grease to the shift lever button spring (E), and install the spring, shift lever button (F), and shift lever knob (G).
  13. Apply non-hardening thread lock sealant to screw threads, and secure the shift lever knob to the shift lever.
  14. Install the D3 switch (H) and D3 switch cover (I).
  15. Install the shift lever assembly (see SHIFT LEVER INSTALLATION  ).
