Ignition Lock: Service and Repair

1984 Honda Accord L4-1829cc 1800 ES,ETSECTION Service and Repair

1. Remove lower steering column cover.
2. Disconnect ignition switch connector.
3. Center punch each of the two shear screw heads, then using a suitable drill and drill bit, remove screw heads and the switch.
4. Install new switch without ignition key inserted.
5. Hand tighten shear screws, insert ignition key, and check for proper operation of wheel lock.
6. Tighten shear screws until hex heads twist off.
7. Reconnect switch connector.
8. Position switch wiring and install lower steering column cover.
