Removal Procedure
Warning
If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
Note:
Before cutting out a window, apply a double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and interior trim.
1. Remove the window lower garnish molding. 2. Remove both rear seat headrests (extended cab). Refer to Head Restraint Replacement Head Restraint Replacement.
3. Remove the rear sea (extended cab) only. Refer to Rear Seat Replacement (Extended Cab with AM7) Rear Seat Replacement (Extended Cab with AM7)Rear Seat Replacement (Heavy Duty Crew Cab with A68) Rear Seat Replacement (Heavy Duty Crew Cab with A68)Rear Seat Replacement (Light Duty Crew Cab with A68) Rear Seat Replacement (Light Duty Crew Cab with A68)Rear Seat Replacement (Extended Cab with A68) Rear Seat Replacement (Extended Cab with A68).
4. Remove the rear sliding window regulator motor bolt , if equipped. Refer to Rear Sliding Window Regulator Replacement Service and Repair.
Warning
If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.
5. Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:
1. Upper dash pad
2. Defroster outlets and A/C outlets
3. Seats and carpeting
Warning:
Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Warning.
Note:
Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window.
6. This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.
* Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange.
* The only suitable lubrication is clear water.
* Use J 24402-A , J 39040 or equivalent in order to remove the window.
7. Open the window, if equipped.
8. With the aid of an assistant, remove the window from the opening.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows (Windshield) Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows (Windshield)Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows (Rear Window) Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows (Rear Window).
2. Install the rear sliding window regulator, if equipped. Refer to Rear Sliding Window Regulator Replacement Service and Repair.
3. Install the window lower garnish molding. Refer to Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Regular Cab) Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Regular Cab)Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Ext Cab/Crew Cab w/A48) Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Ext Cab/Crew Cab w/A48)Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Ext Cab/Crew Cab w/o A48) Rear Window Lower Garnish Molding Replacement (Ext Cab/Crew Cab w/o A48).
