Output Shaft Speed (OSS) Sensor

Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .

2. Remove and discard the heat tape from the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor electrical connector.






3. Disconnect the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor electrical connector.





4. Remove the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor bolt and OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor.





5. Remove and discard the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor O-ring.





Installation

1. Inspect the transaxle case bore. Clean and/or repair as needed.





2. Inspect the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor for debris or damage. Clean or replace the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) as needed.

3. NOTE: If installing the old OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor, install a new O-ring.

Apply a small amount of Motorcraft(R) Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid to the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor O-ring.






4. Install the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor and the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor bolt.






- 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

5. Connect the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor electrical connector.





6. Thoroughly clean the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor, electrical connector and wire.

7. Install new heat tape on the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor as shown in the preceding steps.

8. Remove the heat tape backing only from this location first.





9. Wrap the heat tape around the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor wiring harness.





10. Remove the heat tape backing from the rest of the heat tape.






11. Wrap the heat tape around the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor and stick the ends together.





12. Crimp the heat tape.





13. Fold the remaining portion of the heat tape.





14. Crimp around the edge of the heat tape starting from the OSS (Output Shaft Speed) sensor portion moving around.





15. Crimp the heat tape.
