ISSUE
Some 2012-2013 Focus vehicles equipped with integrated keyless transmitter (IKT) keys and built on or before 11/21/2012 may exhibit the dome light not illuminating when unlocking the vehicle with the IKT fob unlock button after the vehicle has been left engine off and undisturbed for 30 minutes or more and/or an inoperative IKT fob lock button immediately after shutting the ignition off, removing the key from the ignition cylinder and opening the driver door to exit vehicle.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Identify the customer concern.
a. If the dome light is failing to illuminate when unlocking the vehicle with the IKT fob unlock button after the vehicle has been left undisturbed with engine off for 30 minutes or more, proceed to Step 2.
b. If the IKT fob lock button is failing to lock the doors immediately after shutting the ignition off, removing the key from the ignition cylinder and opening the driver's door, proceed to Step 3.
2. Press the lock button on the IKT fob and then press the unlock button on the IKT fob again. Did the dome light turn on?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 417-02 for normal diagnostics.
3. Allow a minimum of 10 seconds to elapse and then press the lock button on the IKT fob again. Did the doors lock?
a. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
b. No - this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 501-14 for normal diagnostics.
4. Reprogram the body control module (BCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 84.01 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
