Diagnostic Overview
The AC Power Point Turns Off After 13 Minutes
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 44 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The DC (Direct Current)/ AC (Alternating Current) inverter receives a signal from the BCM (Body Control Module) over the LIN (Local Interconnect Network) whenever the engine is running. If the DC (Direct Current)/ AC (Alternating Current) inverter does not receive this message for 13 minutes, the inverter stops supplying 110 volts to the power outlet and the green LED (Light-emitting Diode) indicator flashes. The system can be reset by cycling the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON, however the system only operates for another 13 minutes unless the signal is received from the BCM (Body Control Module) that the engine is running.
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Verify the concern by monitoring the AC (Alternating Current) outlet LED (Light-emitting Diode) indicator for 13 minutes with the engine running. If the LED (Light-emitting Diode) indicator starts to flash after 13 minutes, continue to the pinpoint test. If the system continues to operate normally after 13 minutes, make sure that the customer is aware of the DC (Direct Current)/ AC (Alternating Current) inverter time-out function.
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Connect the scan tool.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Using a scan tool, perform BCM (Body Control Module) self-test to retrieve DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
4. Record any BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved.
Is U0100:00 present in the BCM (Body Control Module)?
2. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect BCM (Body Control Module) C2280B.
3. Disconnect DC (Direct Current)/ AC (Alternating Current) Inverter C3501A.
4. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
3. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
RENDER: 1.0x

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- • You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- • You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- • You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
