DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the bulbs and make sure they are OK.

- Inspect the BCM (Body Control Module) fuse 12 (15A).

- Inspect the interior lamp for damage.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF ALL THE INTERIOR COURTESY LAMPS

1. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds.

Are all the interior courtesy lamps inoperative?

2. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE COURTESY LAMP

1. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch to turn the interior courtesy lamps off.

2. Disconnect: Inoperative Interior Lamp.

3. Press and hold the courtesy lamp switch for 3 seconds.

4. For a front interior lamp (overhead console), measure:

5. For a rear interior lamp (with roof opening panel), measure:

6. For a rear interior lamp (without roof opening panel) or cargo lamp, measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

3. CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. For a front interior lamp (overhead console), measure:

2. For a rear interior lamp (with roof opening panel), measure:

3. For a rear interior lamp (without roof opening panel) or cargo lamp, measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

4. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DEMAND LAMPS

1. Activate the map lamp function from all of the interior lamps.

Do the map lamps illuminate?

5. BYPASS THE BCM (Body Control Module)

1. Turn the map lamps off.

2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280A.

3. NOTE: If the jumper wire fails, refer to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short Electrical Diagrams. After the repair: If no DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are present, test the system for normal operation.
If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U1000:00 is present, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and repeat the self-test (required to enable the courtesy lamp output driver if DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U1000:00 is present). Test the system for normal operation.
If DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3000:49 is present, install a new BCM (Body Control Module). REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - without Intelligent Access (IA) or REFER to Body Control Module (BCM) - with Intelligent Access (IA) . Test the system for normal operation.

Connect:

6. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION

1. Disconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.

2. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

3. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.

4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
