Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. RECHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.
3. Clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Repeat the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3003:16 still present?
2. CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) IN THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module)
1. Using a scan tool, perform PCM (Powertrain Control Module) Self-Test.
2. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from the PCM (Powertrain Control Module).
Are any charging system DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) present in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module)?
3. CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
1. Check the battery condition and verify that the battery is fully charged. REFER to Diagnostic Routine A Pinpoint Tests.
Is the battery OK and fully charged?
4. CHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) VOLTAGE SUPPLY
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
3. Disconnect C-CM (Cruise-Control Module).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?
5. CHECK THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
