Pinpoint Test I: The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) Is Completely Inoperative

Normal Operation

The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) receives voltage from the Smart Junction Box (SJB). The ignition switch position message is broadcast to the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) by the SJB (Smart Junction Box) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN).

Information from the audio system (vehicles without navigation), the climate control system, the SYNC system (if equipped), and the compass heading (if equipped) are shown on the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) display screen. If only one of these displays has a concern, GO to Pinpoint Test K Pinpoint Test K: An Individual FDIM Display Is Inop/Doesn't Operate Correctly - Without Navigation.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication network concern

- FDIM (Front Display Interface Module)
