Selector Lever Cable

Removal
All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the air cleaner.
3. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

4. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.
5. Release the 2 tabs, remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and position the cable aside.

6. Remove the battery tray.
7. NOTE: Slide the locking tab upwards to unlock the electrical connector.
Disconnect the TCM (Transmission Control Module) electrical connector.
8. Disconnect the 3 battery cable pin-type retainers from the TCM (Transmission Control Module) bracket.
9. Remove the TCM (Transmission Control Module) bracket nut, TCM (Transmission Control Module) and bracket.
10. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.
11. Release the 2 tabs, remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever cable bracket and position the cable aside.
All vehicles
12. Remove the floor console.
13. Remove the 2 nuts from the grommet, route the selector lever cable from the engine compartment through the floor and remove the selector lever cable from the passenger compartment.
Installation
All vehicles
1. Install the selector lever cable, position the grommet in place and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
2. Install the floor console.
3. Place the selector lever in DRIVE.

4. NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable, make sure that both selector lever cable locking tabs are locked in place. Press the selector lever cable into the selector lever cable bracket and listen for the selector lever cable retainer to click in place. Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that the selector lever is locked into the selector lever cable bracket.
Install the selector lever cable in the selector lever cable bracket.
5. Place the manual control lever in DRIVE.
1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise 3 detent stops.
6. Release the selector lever cable adjuster lock.
1. Carefully pry outward the adjuster lock tabs.
2. While holding the adjuster lock tabs outward, slide the lock to unlock the selector lever cable.
7. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.
NOTE: Make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever ball stud by pulling back on the selector lever cable end.
With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
8. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
Slide the release tab back to lock the adjuster.
9. Install the TCM (Transmission Control Module), bracket and TCM (Transmission Control Module) bracket nut.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
10. Connect the 3 battery cable pin-type retainers to the TCM (Transmission Control Module) bracket.
11. Connect the TCM (Transmission Control Module) electrical connector.

12. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.
NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable, make sure that the selector lever cable locking tabs are locked in place. Press the selector lever cable into the selector lever cable bracket and listen for the selector lever cable retainer to click in place. Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that the selector lever is locked into the selector lever cable bracket.
Install the selector lever cable in the selector lever cable bracket.
13. Place the manual control lever in DRIVE.
1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.
14. Unlock the adjuster.
1. Pry the latch up.
2. Push the lock tab to slide it over.
15. Slide the selector lever cable end forward or backward to align it with the manual control lever.
16. NOTICE: To prevent selector lever cable damage, do not apply force to the selector lever cable between the manual control lever and the selector lever cable bracket.
NOTE: Make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the manual control lever ball stud by pulling back on the selector lever cable end.
With the adjuster locking tab released, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
17. NOTE: After locking the adjuster, pull back on the adjuster to make sure it is securely installed.
Slide the release tab back to lock the adjuster.
All vehicles
18. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe.
19. Install the air cleaner.
