POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REFLASHING
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
CERTAIN 1999 MODEL YEAR TAURUS AND SABLE VEHICLES WITH 3.0L 2V ENGINES
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Reflash Powertrain Control Module (PCM) to 9LAA-BN calibration or 9LAA-BS calibration (only one of these calibrations will be selectable for each vehicle), using one of the following two (2) methods:
^ Service Bay Diagnostic System (SBDS).
^ Service Bay Technical System (SBTS) and the New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester with Rotunda flash cable (007-00531) and Rotunda flash card (007-00532).

2. Obtain and prepare the Authorized Modifications Label. Write the modification completed, your P and A Code, date of repair and the recall program type and program number as shown.
3. Apply label to clear area of the upper radiator support.
4. Provide California and Massachusetts owners with "Emissions Recall-Proof of Correction" Certificates.
