Fuel Level Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
WARNING: DO NOT SMOKE, CARRY LIGHTED TOBACCO OR AN OPEN FLAME OF ANY TYPE WHEN FUELING VEHICLE OR WHEN WORKING ON OR NEAR ANY FUEL-RELATED COMPONENT. HIGHLY FLAMMABLE MIXTURES ARE ALWAYS PRESENT AND MAY BE IGNITED, RESULTING IN POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
1. Remove fuel pump module.
2. Remove shrinkwrap from fuel level sensor connector.
3. Disconnect the inline connector and remove wire ties.
4. Remove the fuel level sensor retaining screw.
5. Remove fuel level sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Position fuel level sensor on fuel pump module.
2. Install fuel sensor retaining screw. Tighten screw to 2 N.m (18 Lb-In).
3. Install shrinkwrap over sensor wire and firmly engage inline connector.
4. Slide shrinkwrap over the assembled connector and heat shrink appropriately.
WARNING: ALL HEAT SHRINKING MUST BE COMPLETED AWAY FROM THE FUEL TANK AREA.
5. Install wire ties.
6. Install fuel pump module.

5. Remove fuel level sensor.

3. Install shrinkwrap over sensor wire and firmly engage inline connector.
4. Slide shrinkwrap over the assembled connector and heat shrink appropriately.

5. Install wire ties.
6. Install fuel pump module.
