Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

1994 Ford Taurus V6-182 3.0L DOHC SHOSECTION Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM)

HOW TO INITIATE
This mode is entered after all codes have been output during the Key On Engine Off (KOEO) self-test. At this time, leave the self-test activated and depress throttle.

OPERATION
Each time the throttle is depressed, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controlled actuators and solenoids will simultaneously change state (ON/OFF). This allows the technician to test the actuators mechanically and electrically. This procedure generally is used only when called for in one of the pinpoint tests to determine if an actuator is operating properly.

PROCEDURE

- Enter KOEO self-test. Key ON Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test

- Diagnostic trouble code output ends.

- Do brief Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
- PCM energizes actuators and solenoids.

- Do brief WOT.
- PCM de-energizes actuators.
