1. Disconnect 6-way connector from stop lamp switch.
2. Using a suitable ohmmeter, check continuity at switch side of connector with brake pedal released. Continuity should exist between terminals one and four, and terminals three and six. Continuity should not exist between terminals two and five.
3. Check continuity at switch side of connector with brake pedal depressed. Continuity should not exist between terminals one and four, and terminals three and six. Continuity should exist between terminals two and five.
4. If proper results are not obtained, the stop lamp switch should be adjusted or replaced.
