Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)

1987 Dodge Shadow L4-135 2.2L SOHC TurboSECTION Automatic Temperature Control (ATC)

Control Chart:

1. Check A/C compressor drive belt and adjust if necessary.
2. Start engine and set temperature control lever to Cool position.
3. Push A/C or Norm button.
4. Refer to control chart, to check position of doors, operation of compressor clutch, blower motor, and water valve. Water valve is open when no vacuum is applied.
5. Check blower switch in all 4 positions, noting change in air flow.
6. Move temperature lever from full warm to cool position. With engine warm, discharge air temperature should change with lever movement.
7. Repeat steps 4 and 5 in each push-button position.
8. If operation of doors is slow or incomplete, check for misalignment, binding, or vacuum leaks. The A/C door operates with a 7-second delay between mode switching. Temperature control cable should also be checked for correct adjustment.
