Distributor: Service and Repair
1991 Daihatsu Charade L4-1295cc 1.3LSECTION Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove spark plug wires, disconnect connector(s) and vacuum hoses if equipped.
3. Remove distributor set bolt(s), then distributor.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Replace O-ring.
b. On four-cylinder models, turn crankshaft until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC. Align timing marks on flywheel dampner and engine block tab. On three-cylinder models, turn crankshaft until No. 1 cylinder is BTDC 5° under compression stroke. Align timing marks on engine side.
c. On four-cylinder engines, ensure to align cut out section of distributor housing with cut out section of coupling. On three-cylinder engines align drilled marks on drive gear and distributor body.
d. Install distributor, then on four-cylinder models, ensure attaching holes of distributor and engine block are centered. On three-cylinder models, align marks on distributor housing and body.
