Generator Bracket Replacement (Diesel)
Removal Procedure
Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery).
2. Remove the fan assembly. Refer to fan replacement Fan Replacement (Mechanical) Service and RepairFan Replacement (Diesel) Service and Repair.
3. Remove the heater outlet pipe retainer (2) and nut (1).
4. Remove the engine harness stud clip nut (3) and engine harness retainer (4).
5. Remove the nuts (2) at the back of the glow plug module (3).
6. Remove the glow plug module bracket bolts (1) and reposition the glow plug module (3).
7. Remove the bolt (1) securing the fuel line retainer (2) to the generator bracket.
8. Remove the upper intake manifold brace bolt (1).
9. Remove the bolts (2) securing the upper intake manifold brace (3) to the generator bracket.
10. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement Service and Repair.
11. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator ReplacementGenerator Replacement (V6) Generator ReplacementGenerator Replacement (V8) Generator Replacement.
12. Remove the generator bracket nuts (1) and bolt (1) from the cylinder block.
13. Remove the generator bracket (3).
14. If replacing the generator bracket, remove the idler pulleys (4) and transfer to the new generator bracket.
Installation Procedure
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
1. Position the generator bracket to the engine and install the nuts (1) and bolt (2).Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
2. Install the upper intake manifold brace bolt (1)and tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
3. Install the bolts (2) securing the upper intake manifold brace (3) to the generator bracket and tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
4. Install the bolt (1) securing the fuel line retainer (2) to the generator bracket and tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
5. Install the engine harness stud clip nut (3) and engine harness retainer (4) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
6. Install the heater outlet pipe retainer (2) and nut (1)and tighten to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
7. Position the glow plug module on top of the generator bracket and tighten the nuts (2) and bolts (1) to 25 Nm (17 lb ft).
8. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement Service and Repair.
9. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (Diesel) Generator ReplacementGenerator Replacement (V6) Generator ReplacementGenerator Replacement (V8) Generator Replacement.
10. Install the fan assembly. Refer to Fan Replacement (Mechanical) Service and RepairFan Replacement (Diesel) Service and Repair.
11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (TP2)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery).
