Engine Flywheel Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement Transmission Replacement.
2. Remove the flywheel.
3. Clean and inspect the flywheel. Refer to Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection 53. Engine Flywheel Cleaning and Inspection. If the flywheel teeth are damaged, inspect the starter for proper operation. Replace the starter if you find excessive wear or damage to the starter drive. Refer to Starter Replacement Service and Repair.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the flywheel to the crankshaft.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the flywheel bolts and tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb ft) plus and additional 45 degrees.
3. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement Transmission Replacement.
