Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.






1. From inside the engine compartment, disconnect the front wheel sensor electrical connector (1).

2. Release the wheel speed sensor electrical connector retainer from the inner wheel house panel.

3. Feed the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and harness through the wheel house panel closeout.

4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

5. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2).





6. Release the wheel speed sensor wire harness retainer (1) from the outer wheel house panel.

7. Release the wheel speed sensor wire harness from the front suspension strut (2).





8. Clean the wheel speed sensor area on the steering knuckle of any accumulated dirt and debris.

9. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).

10. Remove the wheel speed sensor assembly from the steering knuckle by pulling straight out.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the wheel speed sensor assembly to the steering knuckle.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





3. Secure the wheel speed sensor wire harness retainer (1) to the outer wheel house panel.

4. Secure the wheel speed sensor wire harness to the front suspension strut (2).

5. Feed the wheel speed sensor electrical connector and harness through the wheel house panel closeout.

6. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2).

7. Lower the vehicle.





8. From inside the engine compartment, connect the front wheel sensor electrical connector (1).

9. Secure the wheel speed sensor electrical connector retainer to the inner wheel house panel.
