Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).




2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector (2).




3. Remove the retainer bolt.
4. Remove the retainer.
5. Remove the VSS.
6. Remove and discard the O-ring.

Installation Procedure

1. Lubricate a new O-ring with transmission fluid. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Fluid Type Specifications).
2. Install the new O-ring.




3. Install the VSS assembly.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Install the VSS retainer bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 9 Nm (80 lb in).




5. Connect the VSS connector to the VSS (2).
6. Install the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
