Blower Motor Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the instrument panel compartment assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement).
2. Remove screws that attach lower portion of plastic instrument panel glove box opening.
3. Pull lower portion of plastic instrument panel glove box opening away from metal mounting points enough to remove screws holding right side heater duct in place.
4. Remove the right side floor heater duct. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement).
5. Remove the blower motor cover. Blower Motor Cover Replacement (Blower Motor Cover Replacement).
6. Remove the blower motor wire harness connector.





Note: Blower motor is molded into HVAC module case during manufacturing process, therefore HVAC module case must be cut to remove blower. Cut through the case as straight as possible because the motor cup must be reused. In order to prevent damage to the component, do not cut any deeper than necessary to remove the motor cup.

7. Cut out the blower motor using a utility knife in the narrow groove of the lower case.




8. Remove the blower motor.




9. Remove the blower motor nuts.
10. Remove the blower motor from the blower motor cup.

Removal Procedure - Previously Removed Blower Motor

1. Remove the instrument panel compartment assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement).
2. Remove screws that attach lower portion of plastic instrument panel glove box opening.
3. Pull lower portion of plastic instrument panel glove box opening away from metal mounting points enough to remove screws holding right side heater duct in place.
4. Remove the right side floor heater duct. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement).
5. Remove the blower motor cover. Blower Motor Cover Replacement (Blower Motor Cover Replacement).
6. Remove the blower motor wire harness connector.




7. Remove the 3 outer most screws from blower service ring.




8. Remove the blower motor.




9. Remove the blower motor nuts.
10. Remove the blower motor from the blower motor cup.

Installation Procedure




1. Clean / smooth the rough edges / burs of plastic from HVAC module case where original molded in place blower was cut out.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Attach blower service ring using service screws.

Tighten the nuts to 2.4 Nm (21 lb in).

3. Install blower motor with service ring assembly into position on the HVAC module, and attach service ring to HVAC module case with additional service screws
4. Install the blower motor.

Tighten the screws to 1.5 Nm (13 lb in).

5. Install the blower motor wire harness connector.
6. Remove the right side floor heater duct. Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement (Floor Front Air Outlet Duct Replacement).
7. Install the instrument panel compartment assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement).
