Front Seat Lumbar Support Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Impala) (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
2. Remove the front seat back cover and pad. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement (Impala) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement).
3. Remove the front seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Impala) (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement).
4. Remove the screws (1) that retain the lumbar actuator to the seat cushion pan.
5. Move the lumbar actuator away from the seat far enough to disconnect the lumbar cable (1) from the actuator (2).
6. Note the routing of the cable for installation purposes, the cable (1) must route between the recliner rod (2) and the seat back frame.
7. Remove the lumbar assembly (1) from the seat back frame by doing the following:
* Disconnect the lumbar assembly (1) from each side of the seat back frame.
* Pull the bottom of the lumbar assembly (1) forward to disengage the retainers from the seat back frame.
* Slide the lumbar assembly (1) downward and forward to release from the seat back frame.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the lumbar assembly (1) to the front seat back frame by doing the following:
* Insert the top of the lumbar assembly (1) into the upper locations on the seat back frame.
* Secure the lower portion of the lumbar assembly (1) by pushing the retainers firmly into the seat back frame.
* Attach the sides of the lumbar assembly (1) to the sides of the seat back frame.
2. Route the lumbar cable (1) between the front seat back frame and the recliner rod (2).
3. Connect the lumbar cable (1) to the lumbar actuator (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
4. Position the lumbar actuator to the seat cushion frame and install the 2 screws that secure the lumbar actuator to the seat cushion frame.
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
5. Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement (Impala) (Front Seat Cushion Cover and Pad Replacement).
6. Install the seat back cushion cover and pad. Refer to Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement (Impala) (Seat Back Cover and Pad Replacement).
7. Install the front seat to the vehicle. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (Impala) (Front Seat Replacement - Bucket).
