Telescoping Steering Column Calibration

Telescoping Soft Stops

After replacement of the driver position module (DPM) or the telescope actuator, the hard stops are established by physical stops on the telescoping column. The system uses soft stops to prevent wear on the system by ensuring that the steering column movement stops before it reaches its mechanical end of travel in either direction. If the motor is driven to a stall, a soft stop will be set within 2 seconds.

Telescoping Soft Stop Setup Procedure

1. Turn ON the ignition.
2. Operate the telescoping column all the way out. Hold the switch on for an additional 3 seconds after the column has reached the physical stop.
3. Operate the telescoping column all the way in. Hold the switch on for an additional 3 seconds after the column has reached the physical stop.

Refer to Memory Seat Control Module Programming and Setup (Programming and Relearning) if the DPM was replaced.
