Seats: Description and Operation

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt L4-2.2LSECTION Description and Operation

Manual Seats Description

All coupe and sedan body styles are equipped with bucket seats. The bucket seats contain a manual recliner system. Manually release the seat back as desired in order to provide easier access to the rear seat.

Both of the recliner mechanisms on the sedan, and the driver mechanism on the coupe, are part of the seat back frame. The coupe passenger bucket seat folds flat. The fold flat recliner mechanism consists of an inboard and an outboard recliner, mounted between the seat back and both sides of the adjuster tracks.

The manually operated front adjusters provide forward and rearward movement of the seat. Actuating the seat control handle unlocks the seat adjusters. This permits travel of the seat. The seat locks into place under the following conditions:

* The seat is in the desired position.
* The seat control handle is released.

Some driver seats may have a 4-way manual seat adjustment. To operate the height adjustment, ratchet the front lever on the outboard side of the driver seat. Ratchet up or down to raise or lower the seat.
