Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement (J92)
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution .
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice .
Notice: Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
3. Remove the antilock brake system (ABS) module splash shield retainers (1).
4. Remove the ABS module splash shield bolts (1).
5. Remove the ABS module splash shield (1).
6. Remove all dirt and debris from the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV).
7. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
8. Remove and discard the 4 EBCM screws (1).
9. Carefully pull the EBCM (1) from the BPMV.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the EBCM (1) to the BPMV.
2. Push the EBCM squarely onto the BPMV.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice .
3. Install 4 new EBCM screws (1).
Tighten the screws in an X pattern to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
4. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
5. If installing a new EBCM, program the EBCM. Refer to Control Module References .
6. Bleed the BPMV. Refer to Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure (Without JL4) (Service and Repair)Antilock Brake System Automated Bleed Procedure (With JL4) (Service and Repair) .
7. Install the ABS module splash shield (1).
8. Install the ABS module splash shield bolts (1).
Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
9. Install the ABS module splash shield retainers (1).
