Transmission Fluid Checking

1. Remove the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (4 Lug Wheel) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (5 Lug Wheel).

Important: Inspect the fluid level only when the engine is off. Ensure the vehicle is level. The transaxle must be cold.

2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.




3. Remove the level check plug.
4. Verify that the fluid is up to the opening.
5. If no fluid is visible, add Dexron III P/N 21019223 Transmission Fluid, or equivalent until the level check opening begins to leak fluid.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

6. Install the fluid level check plug.

Tighten the fluid level check plug to 38 N.m (28 lb ft).

7. Install the left front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (4 Lug Wheel) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (5 Lug Wheel).
