2006 Chevrolet Malibu V6-3.5L VIN 8SECTION Body Control Module Programming and Setup

BODY CONTROL MODULE PROGRAMMING AND SETUP

Each of the following courses of action requires a setup or programming procedure before the body control module (BCM) can be put into normal service.

Body Control Module (BCM) Replacement
If the BCM is replaced, the following procedures must be performed in the subsequent order:
- BCM Reprogramming-Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
- Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration-Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration in Lighting Systems.
- Theft Learn-Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent.

Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) Replacement
If the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) is replaced, the following procedure must be performed:

Setup SDM Part Number in BCM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems for the proper procedure.

Brake Apply Sensor (BAS) Replacement
If the brake apply sensor (BAS) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
- BCM Reprogramming-Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
- Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration-Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration in Lighting Systems.
- Theft Learn-Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent.

Body Control Module (BCM) Reprogramming
If the BCM is reprogrammed, the following procedures must be performed:
- BCM Reprogramming-Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
- Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration-Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration in Lighting Systems.
- Theft Learn-Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components in Theft Deterrent.

Theft Deterrent Programming
If the BCM or the powertrain control module (PCM) is replaced the programming for the replaced module must be performed before the programming of the theft deterrent system. Refer to the following:
- BCM Reprogramming-Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems for replacement, setup, and programming.
- PCM Reprogramming-Refer to Service Programming System (SPS).
