Cylinder Head Bolt - Preferred Method
All Bolts First Pass in Sequence 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
Long Bolts Final Pass in Sequence 75 degrees
Medium Bolts Final Pass in Sequence 65 degrees
Short Bolts Final Pass in Sequence 55 degrees
Cylinder Head Bolt - Optional On-Vehicle Strategy
First Pass in Sequence 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
Second Pass in Sequence 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
Final Pass in Sequence 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.)

Measure the cylinder head for warpage with a straight edge and feeler gage.
A cylinder head block deck with warpage in excess of 0.10 mm (0.004 inch) within a 152.4 mm (6.0 inch) area must be repaired or replaced.
A cylinder head exhaust manifold deck with warpage in excess of 0.05 mm (0.002 inch) within a 152.4 mm (6.0 inch) area must be repaired or replaced.
A cylinder head intake manifold deck with warpage in excess of 0.10 mm (0.004 inch) within a 152.4 mm (6.0 inch) area must be repaired or replaced.





Lower Intake Manifold Bolt
First Pass in Sequence 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.)
Second Pass in Sequence 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.)
Final Pass in Sequence 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)

Upper Intake Manifold Stud
First Pass 5 Nm (44 inch lbs.)
Final Pass 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)

Exhaust Manifold Bolt/Stud
First Pass 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
Final Pass 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.)
