Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo V6-3.8L VIN KSECTION Service and Repair
THROTTLE POSITION (TP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.




2. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.




3. Remove the 2 T/P sensor screws.




4. Remove the T/P sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the T/P sensor to the throttle body assembly.
2. Apply thread-locking compound GM P/N 12345493, (Canadian P/N 10953488) or equivalent to the T/P sensor screws.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




3. Install the 2 TIP sensor screws.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




4. Connect the T/P sensor electrical connector.
5. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
