Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

2002 Chevrolet Express 1 Ton Van V8-8.1L VIN GSECTION Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Drain the cooling system below the level of the ECT sensor. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
4. Disconnect the ECT electrical connector (2).
5. Remove the ECT electrical connector from the bracket (1).
6. Remove the ECT sensor (3).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Coat the threads with sealer P/N 9985253 or equivalent.

NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Carefully install the ECT sensor (3).

Tighten
Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Connect the ECT harness connector (2) to the ECT sensor (3).
4. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Cooling System.
5. Install the engine cover.
6. Connect the ECT electrical connector to the bracket (1).
