The scan tool displays Open Loop or Closed Loop. Closed Loop indicates that the PCM is controlling fuel delivery according to feedback (input) from the oxygen sensor. Open Loop indicates that the PCM is ignoring the oxygen sensor input. In Open Loop the PCM bases fuel delivery on input from the TP sensor, the ECT sensor, and the MAP sensor.
