CRUISE RELEASE SWITCH ADJUSTMENT
NOTE: Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch adjustment could cause brake drag and excessive brake lining wear.

1. Remove the left side instrument panel insulator panel.
2. Depress the brake pedal fully.
IMPORTANT: The cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are adjusted together. Incorrect adjustment may cause incorrect operation of the cruise control system. Refer to Stoplamp Switch Adjustment in Brakes.
3. Push the switches into the retainers until the switches are fully seated.

4. Pull the brake pedal fully rearward against the brake pedal stop until audible clicks can no longer be heard.
5. Verify that the following brake pedal travel specifications are accurate. The cruise control release switch and the stoplamp switch are correctly adjusted if the brake pedal travel meets the following specifications:
^ The cruise control release switch and stoplamp switch contacts are open at 3.5-12.5 mm (1/8 - 1/2 in) of brake pedal travel. Measure travel at the centerline of the brake pedal pad.
^ The nominal actuation of the stoplamp switch contacts is approximately 4.5 mm (3/16 in) after the cruise control switch contacts close.
6. Install the left side instrument panel insulator panel.
