Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) - Transmitter - Resynchronization

2000 Chevrolet Malibu V6-3.1L VIN JSECTION Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) - Transmitter - Resynchronization
RESYNCHRONIZATION
Resynchronization may be necessary due to the security method used by the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver system. The transmitter does not send the same signal twice to the receiver. The receiver will not respond to a signal it has sent previously. This prevents recording and playing back the signal from the transmitter.

Resynchronization does not send the mathematical formula to the receiver. Resynchronization verifies the previously programmed mathematical formula in the transmitter. Resynchronization works only if the transmitter is already programmed. Resynchronization may be necessary under the following conditions:
^ The transmitter is weak.
^ The transmitter battery was changed.
^ The transmitter is pressed greater than 255 times outside the range of the receiver.

In order to resynchronize the transmitter with the receiver, press and hold the transmitter LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously for approximately 7 seconds. The body control module receives a message from the receiver upon completion of the synchronization. The BCM then chirps the vehicle horns 3 times.
