The keyless entry system operates by means of remote control. Use the transmitter in order to lock and unlock the vehicle doors. Use the transmitter in order to release the endgate or the liftgate window on the utility models.

The remote control door lock transmitters are supplied in pairs with each vehicle. The remote control door lock transmitters are hand-held and attached to a key ring. The transmitter for pickup models has two buttons in order to control the operation of the system. The transmitter for utility models has three buttons in order to control the operation of the system. Whenever a button on the transmitter is pressed, the transmitter sends a coded ultra-high frequency (UHF) radio signal to the receiver.

The transmitter must be within approximately 9 meters (30 feet) of the vehicle in order for the receiver to detect the coded signal. The keyless entry system has no effect on the normal operation of the power doors locks. The keyless entry system has no effect on the endgate or the liftgate window release.

Each receiver is capable of recognizing four transmitters. Replacement transmitters may be obtained, but must be matched to the specific receiver. The transmitter is powered by a three-volt battery and is water resistant.
