Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

1999 Chevrolet Lumina V6-3.8L VIN KSECTION Service and Repair
Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
3. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body and Frame.
4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.





5. Remove the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).
6. Remove the vehicle speed sensor (10) from the extension case.





7. Remove the O-ring (11) from the vehicle speed sensor (10).

Installation Procedure





1. Install the O-ring (11) to the vehicle speed sensor (10).
2. Install the vehicle speed sensor (10) to the extension case.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9).
Tighten the vehicle speed sensor bolt (9) to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).





4. Install the vehicle speed sensor wiring harness connector.
5. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Body and Frame.
6. Install the right front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Wheels, Tires and Alignment.
7. Lower the vehicle.
