REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
3. Remove the battery hold-down retainer bolt.
4. Remove the hold-down retainer.
5. Remove the battery.
6. Inspect the battery for damage.
7. Inspect the cables and the connectors for corrosion or wear.
8. Inspect the carrier for damage or foreign objects. If damage is noted, find and correct the cause.
9. Replace parts as necessary.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the battery into the cleaned carrier.
2. Install the battery hold-down retainer.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the retainer bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 23 N.m (17 lb ft).

4. Connect the battery positive cable.

Tighten
Tighten the cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

5. Connect the battery negative cable.

Tighten
Tighten the cable bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
