EGR Valve: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Move the air cleaner outlet duct aside.
IMPORTANT: Note the EGR valve facing before removing the EGR valve.
4. Disconnect the EGR valve harness connector.

5. Loosen the EGR flange bolts.

6. Remove the EGR valve and gasket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Ensure the EGR valve is oriented in the proper direction.
1. Place the EGR gasket between the EGR valve and the intake manifold EGR mounting location.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Insert the flange bolts through the EGR valve and gasket into the mounting holes.
Tighten
First tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in), and then tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Connect the EGR valve harness connector.
4. Install the air cleaner assembly.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
