The TAP DOWN Function

1999 Chevrolet Astro Van 2WD V6-4.3L VIN WSECTION The TAP DOWN Function
Use the TAP DOWN function in order to incrementally decrease the cruise speed. For TAP DOWN to operate, the cruise control must be engaged. To decrease the vehicle speed by increments of 1.6 km/h (1 mph) proceed as follows:
1. Quickly depress and release the SET/COAST button. Vehicle speed will decrease by 1.6 km/h.
2. Continue to quickly depress and release the SET/COAST button until the vehicle is travelling at the desired speed.

Do not hold the button in the depressed position, or the system will revert to the COAST mode. The system can TAP DOWN to 40 km/h (25 mph). This is the lowest speed at which the cruise control system will engage. The system was not designed to operate at speeds lower than 40 km/h (25 mph).

The accelerator can be depressed at any time to override the cruise system. Releasing the accelerator will return the vehicle to the previously set cruise speed.
