Circuit Operation

1998 Chevrolet Express 1 Ton Van V8-5.7L VIN RSECTION Circuit Operation
The Data Link Connector (DLC) is provided to enable communications with specific control modules using an external Scan Tool. The use of the Scan Tool in control module diagnostics is described in the Engine Controls, Supplemental Inflatable Restraints, and Anti lock Brakes manual sections. The Data Link PPL (1807) wire allows internal and external Class II communications between control modules as well as with the external Scan Tool. Module to module communications are described and diagnosed in the appropriate manual sections. A module to module communication failure due to wiring problems will also result in communications failures with the Scan Tool. The Data Link TAN/WHT (799) 9600 baud rate and TAN (800) 8192 baud rate wires allows internal and external Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) communications with the external Scan Tool.

Data Link Connector (DLC) Cavity 8 for the BLK/WHT (1455) wire is used for programming Remote Control Door Lock Receiver for new transmitters. See Section 9K for additional information.
