Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Notice: The Camshaft Position Sensor graphic illustrates the original factory installation. Do not route the new sensor pigtail as shown. Follow the Installation procedure below. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the sensor and pigtail. Route away from electronic components to avoid Electromagnetic Interference (EMI).


Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in General Information.
2. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
3. Remove the power steering pump assembly.
4. Remove the electrical connector.
5. Remove the bolt.
6. Remove the sensor.


Installation Procedure
1. Install the Camshaft Position Sensor. Tighten the retaining bolt to 10 Nm (8 lb. ft.).
2. Connect the electrical Connector.
3. Install the power steering pump.
4. Install the serpentine drive belt.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
