Compressor and/or Brace
1993 Chevrolet Lumina APV V6-3800 3.8LSECTION Compressor and/or Brace
A/C Compressor Mounting (LG6 & C67):
A/C Compressor Suction/Discharge Hose Assembly (LG6 & C67):
Remove or Disconnect
1. Battery negative cable.
2. Discharge and recover refrigerant from A/C system
3. Electrical connectors from compressor.
4. Serpentine belt from compressor pulley by releasing belt tension at tensioner.
5. Belt off compressor pulley (3.1L).
6. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
7. Right front wheel for easier access to compressor and attaching hardware.
8. Right front wheel splash shield.
9. Bolts (2) from front engine bracket securing compressor (front).
10. Bolt (1) from rear engine bracket securing compressor (rear).
11. Engine block stud nut securing A/C compressor brace.
12. Bolt (1) attaching brace to compressor.
13. Compressor. It may be necessary to remove rear mounting bracket and bolts (3) for clearance.
Install or Connect
1. Compressor.
2. Brace and bolt at compressor.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 31 N.m (23 lb.ft.).
3. Brace nut at engine block.
Tighten
^ Nut to 31 N.m (23 lb. ft.).
4. Compressor bolt at rear bracket.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 31 N.m (23 lb. ft.).
5. Front compressor bolts.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 47 N.m (35 lb. ft.).
6. Right front splash shield.
7. Right front wheel.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Belt onto compressor (3.1L).
10. Electrical connectors.
11. Battery negative cable.
12. Evacuate, charge and leak test A/C system.
