Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

1987 Chevrolet S10/T10 P/U 4WD V6-173 2.8LSECTION Service and Repair

1. Disconnect TPS electrical connector.
2. Remove two TPS attaching screws, lockwashers and retainers.
3. If equipped, remove screw attaching TPS actuator lever to end of throttle.
4. Remove TPS.
5. With throttle valve(s) in normal closed idle position, install TPS. Ensure TPS pickup lever is located above tang on throttle actuator lever.
6. Apply suitable thread locking compound to screw threads, then install retainers, lockwashers and screws. Adjust TPS. Refer to "THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS), ADJUST" for procedure.
