1986 Chevrolet C 20 P/U 2WD L6-292 4.8LSECTION Fast Idle Speed

6-292 ENGINE W/1ME, 1MEF CARBURETORS
Check and, if necessary, adjust ignition timing before adjusting fast idle speed. Make adjustments with engine at normal operating temperature, choke fully open, air cleaner installed and A/C control off, if equipped.
1. Disconnect and plug vacuum hoses as directed on vehicle emission label.
2. Place transmission in Park or Neutral, then adjust curb idle speed as previously outlined.
3. Position cam follower tang on high step of fast idle cam. On manual choke models with smooth cam surface, rotate cam clockwise to its fully upward position.
4. Support lever with suitable pliers, then bend tang in or out to obtain specified fast idle speed.
