1. Remove retainer ring from input internal gear, then the reaction carrier shaft
from input internal gear.
2. Inspect reaction carrier shaft for the following:
a. Scored, damaged or worn bushing.
b. Cracked shaft.
c. Damaged spline or gear teeth.
d. Under cut around shaft from interference with sun gear.
3. Inspect input internal gear for cracks, damaged splines or damaged gear teeth.
4. Inspect input carrier to reaction shaft thrust bearing for wear or damage.
5. Inspect output shaft for the following:
a. Plugged or restricted lube passages.
b. Damaged splines or ring groove.
c. Damaged governor drive gear teeth.
d. Burrs or damage to front of shaft at seal area and gearing journals.
6. Install reaction shaft into input internal gear.
7. Install retainer ring into input internal gear.
8. Install internal gear and shaft assembly into the sun gear shell.
9. Install thrust bearing onto the reaction carrier shaft. Ensure outer race goes toward the reaction carrier shaft.

10. Install output shaft into transmission, then position output shaft support fixture tool No. J-29837 or equivalent, upwards as far as possible to support output shaft onto case.
